Hot on the heels of last month's 'Something Sinister' EP, Inphekt is back once again and this time he brings with him a whole host of Viral-Mental Records artists to present a mammoth collection of darker than dark remixes of the neuro-funk anthem 'Infernum', which featured on 2016's 'Tenebris' EP.
Paladin is first to step up to the plate with his haunting, 2-step D&B reinterpretation of 'Infernum', complete with spine-tingling chimes and head-nodding, half-speed beats. Up next, Hektic twists the grimy bassline into a monstrously, misshapen mess of groans and snarls as if it's some dark beast straining to be unleashed.
The inimitable Jaguar Paw delivers a rugged and rollin', nuskool jungle rendition which layers dark elements over a funk fuelled break and bass combination, before Uzi rolls out a succession of oldskool, breakbeats and hellish drones.
Inphekt returns to his own dark masterpiece to bring you his heavyweight VIP Mix, where he ramps up the industrial tension to maximum before handing over the reigns to the Dredillah who peppers 'Infernum' with near footwork style, rhythmical jitters and then hits you with a ten-tonne, stepping beat.
Things go cyber-punk with SkorpZ's sci-fi relick where retro-futuristic bleeps and pulses do battle with shuffling breaks and vintage movie dialogue. The 'Infernum Remixes' EP is brought to a perfect close by Inphekt's demonic 'Infernum (Orginal Mix)', in order to provide a source for comparison for the previous seven remixes.
