The erstwhile hardcore breaks label, Paranoid Recordings drop the third in a series of forum remix competition EP's, with the 4-track 'Headhunter EP'.
Featuring veterans of the nu-skool hardcore scene and newcomers alike, the EP is kicked off by The Ruffneck, who drops a 1991-style oldskool, sci-fi-techno slow burner with 'Phase Shift'. Incorporating warehouse rave bleeps, acidic riffs, pumping kicks and some choice "2001: A Space Odyssey" dialogue samples. DJ Infection ventures into the wastelands of another sc-fi epic, "Dune" with his junglistic hardcore track 'Spice'. Fusing rolling amen breaks, massive bass pulses and deep atmospherics.
Things start to get a bit dark next with Coldsnap's demonic 'Devils'. A roughneck trip into jungle tekno territory with lush pads, growling bass, metallic, time-stretched breaks, doom-laden synths and horror flick dialogue. DJ Fav rounds off the EP with another darkcore monster with 'Headhunter'. An all-out amen-assault of a tune complete with tearing amens and eerie synth sounds to menace your sound-system.
Four killer nuskool tracks from a long established label championing the hardcore breaks scene, and all this for free. You've no excuse not to get on it!!!
